Our privacy commitment
We promise that we will always let you know how we use your data and that we will only use your data to provide you with a better service. You can also rest assured that we collect and store your data in a secure manner.
Security first
The data we collect and store is limited to a strict minimum. If you subscribe to our newsletter, the only piece of personal information we collect and store is your email address. If you place an order, we collect and store your name, address, telephone number, email address and payment method.
We have to share your data with our trusted partners, such as the courier company that ensures the delivery of your order.
We promise that we collect, process, store and share your data in a secure manner. And we guarantee that the other companies, whom we share your data with, do likewise.
We use data to sell qualitative products in a targeted fashion
We base our products on your wishes. This allows us to supply you with the right goods in a qualitative and targeted fashion.

You have control over your own data

This privacy policy is applicable at all times, irrespective of whether you ordered your products or requested a quotation via Orakel or a third party (such as a retailer). This privacy policy forms part of our terms and conditions of sale and the contract in place between us for the products and services you have ordered from us.
Orakel undertakes to protect your privacy and security. Orakel takes its responsibility for the security of its customers’ data extremely serious. This privacy policy explains what personal data we collect, how and why we use and share them and how we protect your privacy.
1. Who is responsible for your data?
Our privacy policy is applicable to the personal data Orakel collects and uses.
Any references to 'Orakel', such as 'we', 'us', 'our' in this privacy policy refer to Orakel BV, with registered office at Veldenstraat 14B, 2470 Retie, Belgium, CBE number BE 0456.887.123.
We supervise the manner in which your personal data are collected and the purposes for which Orakel uses your personal data. In that capacity, we are qualified as 'data controller' under the European General Data Protection Regulation, hereinafter: 'GDPR'.
2. Personal data we may collect about you
The term 'personal data' in our privacy policy refers to information relating to you that allows us to identify you, whether directly or in combination with other information we may have at our disposal. Your personal data may include your name, your contact details, information about your order (your order number for instance) or information about how you use our website and communicate with us.
We collect a number of personal data about you, for instance if you ask us for a quotation, use our website, avail of our services or contact us. We may also receive personal data from our partner service providers that supply you with services (for instance if you give feedback on our services) or from third parties acting on your behalf. In cases where you act on someone else’s behalf, you will need to have that person’s permission to use his/her personal information.

Under the European GDPR, data about your origin, physical or mental health, religion or an alleged offence are qualified as sensitive data. We do NOT collect data of this type.
3. How and why we use your personal data
We use your personal data for the following purposes:
- To process your orders
If you place an order with us, we use your information to prepare your order, to ship it out to you or to notify you when it is ready for collection.
- To communicate with you and to maintain or improve our relationship with you
We may very well have to contact you by email and/or text message for administrative or operational reasons, for instance to confirm your order and/or payment. We may also contact you to check whether you have received our quotation, because there still are some items in your shopping cart.... Please note that these messages are not a marketing ploy and that you will continue to receive them even if you have chosen not to receive any publicity.
We will also use your personal data to contact you if you have submitted a request, completed a web form or have contacted us via our website or via the social media.
As your opinion is important to us, we may send you an email to ask you for your feedback.
We will use the messages you send us, and the feedback you give, to manage our relationship with you, our customer, to improve our services and to enhance your customer experience.
- To personalise and enhance your customer experience
We use your personal data to optimally tailor our services to your requirements and preferences and to provide you with a personalised customer experience. For instance, if you tell us what your favourite products are, we may send you special offers that may be of interest to you.
We may also collect data on how you use our website, which pages you visit most and what products you buy, this to help us understand your preferences and wishes. We may also use this information to tailor the content and offers published on our website to you (if you agreed to receiving marketing information) and send you messages we believe to be of interest to you.
If you place an order via your account and leave our webshop before your order has been finalised, we may contact you to assist you with the ordering process.
- To keep you up to date on the latest news and any offers that may be of interest to you
We will send you marketing messages about our products if you create an account or place an order via our webshop and do not expressly specify that you do not wish to receive such messages.
It goes without saying that you will also receive our marketing messages if you have subscribed to our newsletter.
If you are interested in our marketing messages, we will send you news about new products and offers that may be of interest to you.
We do not share your contact details and other personal data with third parties unless we have to (see point 7 – Sharing your personal data).
- To improve our services, for administrative purposes and to promote our business interests
The business purposes we use your data for are accounting, invoicing and auditing, credit or other payment card verification, fraud screening, safety, security and legal purposes, statistical and marketing analyses, system tests, maintenance and development.
- To meet our legal obligations, for instance to meet our obligation to pass on your details to Customs.
4. Requesting access to your personal data
You are entitled to request access to your personal data we have at our disposal. If you wish to receive a copy of your personal data or have any questions about our data protection policy, please contact us via: privacy@orakel.com.
You can also contact us at the above email address if you wish to object to your personal data being processed, to exercise your right to be forgotten or to have your data erased.
5. Security of your personal data
We are committed to taking the appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised and unlawful processing and against the accidental loss, destruction and corruption of your personal data. If you transmit your personal data via our website, the information is transmitted via the Internet, secured by means of first-rate encryption.
As described in the privacy policy, we may transmit your personal data to third parties (see point 7 - Sharing your personal data). If Orakel discloses your personal data to a third party, we demand that the third party in question has implemented the appropriate technical and organisational measures to ensure that your personal data are protected. However, in certain situations we are obliged by law to pass on your information to a third party - such as Customs - in which case our control over how your data are protected by that third party will be limited.
The information you provide is stored in our systems which are located at our premises or at the premises of third parties. We may also grant third parties access to your information, provided they pursue the objectives described in this privacy policy or other authorised objectives.
Your personal data may be accessed and processed by our personnel located outside of the territory covered by the GDPR. Your data will always remain in Europe however.
6. Cookies and other tracking technologies
We use technologies such as cookies, pixels or tracking software to optimise our services, to provide you with the most relevant content and to analyse how visitors use our website. Rest assured that you cannot be identified on the basis of the information we collect with the help of these technologies.
To enable us to optimise the design and layout of the website and enhance your user experience, we use software to keep track of user traffic and website usage patterns. This software does not allow us to collect personal data.
To help us understand how customers react to our emails and the content we send out, we use pixels to establish whether our emails are opened and whether the content of our emails is displayed in text or in HTML format.
Furthermore, we use cookies on our website and in our emails. Cookies are tiny bits of information your browser places on the hard disk of your computer. They enable you to browse our website and give us the option of offering you certain functionalities that will simplify your searches, such as remembering your last choice of language. You can delete cookies from your computer at any time. While some cookies are necessary to visit or browse our website, most functions will also be available without cookies.

7. Sharing your personal data
Your personal data may be shared with other companies within our Group.
We share your personal data with, or receive your personal data from, the following categories of third parties:
- Service providers who assist us with our business operations and help us to improve our services and customer experiences.
We share your personal data with companies that help us with our accounts, IT infrastructure, mailings, website and webshop. We disclose your data to companies that help us obtain feedback on our services.
At Orakel, we select our partners who receive your personal data with care and demand that they meet our stringent security standards on the protection of your personal data. Your data are only passed on when necessary (e.g. if the IT department needs to identify a problem) and limited to the strict minimum needed (e.g. only the email address to the mailing provider).
- Credit and payment card companies
Orakel shares part of your personal data with companies that look after electronic payments on our behalf. To guarantee the security of your transactions and to detect any fraudulent transactions, we may also share your information with our fraud-screening partner.
- Authorities
We may disclose your personal data if we are obliged to do so under a specific law Orakel has to comply with.
- Links
Our website contains links to websites of third parties (a. o. Facebook) who operate their own privacy policy. As our privacy policy is not applicable to these websites, Orakel is not responsible for the information third parties might collect via these websites.
On no account are our service providers permitted to use your personal data they obtained via us for anything other than the specific task they have been entrusted with. In other words, they are for instance not permitted to send you mailings in their own name on the basis of data they received from us.
8. Privacy policy updates
This privacy policy, which also features in the context of the new European data protection legislation that came into effect on 25 May 2018 (GDPR), may be amended and updated from time to time, in which case the new version will be published on our website.
